Day One, December Daily 2016 including my process and opening pages.

Posted by

This December I have changed up my album from a 6x8 D Ring Binder to 2 DIY'd Travelers Notebook Inserts made using the Oh Joy Collection 12x12 paper pack by Pinkfresh Studio. The minute I previewed this collection I made a large store order, making sure I added one extra item for my personal use. Super happy how it all came together.

Patterned paper pages are mixed with acetate, vellum and half pages - the half pages I have made from the 6x8 papers included in Ali Edwards main December Daily 2016 kit.

Each notebook is approx 16 double page spreads, so that I can switch around the papers I have not stapled or sewn the notebooks together yet, rather they are held together with some thin elastic, I chose sparkly silver to match the Season I am documenting.

The opening page is vellum and simply has DECEMBER 2016 featured - letter and number stickers and star from Ali Edwards also.

The next page is a printed at home page detailing my December Hopes. This word art was a free download from Ali Edwards, thanks Ali!

The following page is a peek through page, sequins in the top section beside a trimmed down transparency from the Oh Joy Collection. (but added later so not in this photo)

The bottom section has a gold and white word circle from Ali's main kit alongside another piece of trimmed down transparency also from the Oh Joy Collection by Pinkfresh Studios (also added later so not in this photo).

now to Day One...

Backing the hello TWINKLE gold and white word circle is my Day One photo.

The photo is of the ornament that I purchased in honour of my Dad for this years Christmas Tree. I purchase brand new ornaments each year, until this year I would buy 2, sadly this year I need to buy 3.

The story of the purchase of this ornament is on the next page.

I traced onto white cardstock and also gold cardstock which I backed the white with, the exact shape and size of the word art circle that sits atop it in my notebook. The idea being that my Day One story and number sit directly behind the piece in the previous page. Took quite a bit of trimming and retrimming, a few retypes, so another few goes at cutting the exact shape, eventually I got there. I also allowed for the space that the #1 would take up on the shape.

The number is from Ali Edwards main kit and I 'gold dipped' it by masking off the top section with washi tape and upending the Gold Inkpad onto the number (also from Ali Edwards shop) to colour the bottom portion. I experimented with the number 31 as I knew I wouldn't be using it - I finish my album at December 25.

Preparation of these numbers also included peeling off any extra layers of cardstock from the back so as to reduce bulk in my notebooks.

Here is how my Day One spread looks in Notebook 1.

My Dad's ornament on our tree.

Thank you for joining me as I embark once more on this amazing December Daily journey, you can read all about the project here at Ali Edwards website.

Cheers and thanks again,

Michelle x.
